Open Source Firmware Conference 2025

Emmanuel Odunlade

Hardware Design Engineer, Solution Architect, and Entrepreneur, Emmanuel has an extensive background in embedded hardware design, with experience leading design and development (NPD/NPI) for different product categories(Consumer, Medical, Military, and Industrial) from ideation through manufacturing.

He is currently the Hardware Chapter Manager at Wenco, a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery, where he leads the development of hardware solutions for diverse applications in the mining industry.

Before Wenco, Emmanuel led Electrical Engineering at Bailey Electronics, facilitating the development of industry-leading control solutions, featured in the cabin of world’s leading Off-Highway vehicles from manufacturers like John Deere and Mitsubishi, among others.

Outside of architecting solutions and solving system design problems, Emmanuel loves to write, with over 20 citations and 500+ published technical articles for magazines/blogs like Circuit Digest(India) and Power&Beyond(Germany).

When not designing systems, Emmanuel sometimes “entertains” neighbours with sounds from his Saxophone.

Death By Iteration
Emmanuel Odunlade

How do small hardware teams avoid death by iteration?
This talk explores how systems engineering tools like Dependency Structure Matrix (DSM), Weighted Decision Matrix, and Tradeoff Studies can help hardware-firmware teams reduce unplanned rework, clarify interdependencies, and make better decisions faster. The talk will explore practical strategies for applying these tools from concept evaluation through firmware release planning.
