OSFC is the leading conference dedicated to open-source firmware and the ecosystem around it.

Each year, we bring together developers, maintainers, hardware vendors and researchers to share knowledge, collaborate and advance open firmware development.

2026 will mark the ninth edition of OSFC and we invite you to help shape our schedule.

We welcome both established topics and new ideas. If you have insights, experiences or research to share, we encourage you to submit your proposal.

  • Free and open-source firmware
  • Free and open-source hardware - from embedded device to server system.
  • State-of-the-art security in firmware.
  • Firmware and hardware reverse engineering.
  • Current hardware / firmware security issues.
  • Advances in open hard- and firmware on the market.
  • Bootloader and Hypervisor integration with firmware components.
  • Firmware testing and tooling.
  • Use cases and integration stories

Submission Guidelines

Please provide a meaningful abstract and a description of at least 150 words. You can upload further resources like papers or slides afterwards. These can be updated until the deadline and after acceptance.

Talks

  • Talks last 30 minutes followed by 15 min Q'n'A.
  • Submit a meaningful abstract describing your topic
  • You are free to choose the presentation tool, but you need to bring your own device (e.g. notebook) with HDMI port for presentation.

Workshops

  • Workshops last up to 60 minutes (leave a note, if you need more time)
  • Workshops are guided sessions
  • Show hands-on examples
  • Work on an issue
  • Give a life demo
  • Transfer Skills, Tips and Tricks
  • Share knowledge
  • Provide a descriptive abstract
  • Add a note on how many attendees you can serve
  • Workshops will not be recorded

Lightning Talks

  • Lightning Talks last 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Lightning Talks can be used to:
    1. Project Updates
    2. Project Ideas
    3. Reports
    4. Product & Tooling Announcements
    5. Demos
  • They could also serve as an addition to workshops
  • Provide a descriptive abstract
  • Lightning Talks will not be recorded

Dates

Submissions Due: June 22, 2026
Conference: September 15th – 17th, 2026 at Pakhuis de Zwijger, Piet Heinkade 179, 1019 HC Amsterdam, Netherlands


Speakers of accepted submissions get a complimentary ticket. We will refund an already purchased ticket. We allow a maximum of two speakers per talk. (Maximum two tickets refunds per submission)


Publication

Talks will be recorded. If a recording is not desired by a speaker, this can be marked during the submission process.
The OSFC 2026 recordings and slides will be made available online afterwards. Talks will eventually be streamed during the event.
